Beautiful, spacious 18th century farmhouse, barn, outbuildings and large floodlit pool set in the village of Saulieres on the Dordogne River.

The Farmhouse: is very spacious, and was newly restored in 2002 with 5 bedrooms, 4 of which are en-suite, one of which is on the ground floor. There is a large beamed lounge & dining room, measuring 39.5' x 18', with a huge open stone fireplace. This room is furnished with new comfortable settees and armchairs to seat 12 people, and in the dining area there is a large farmhouse style dining table & 12 chairs. Two doors lead from the lounge and dining area, giving onto a south-facing balcony, complete with patio furniture & barbecue, and steps lead down to garden and pool. The fully fitted new oak kitchen is 15' x 15' and has an electric oven & hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and is well equipped with ample crockery, utensils & cutlery. There is a second dining table in the kitchen with 4 chairs, for less formal gatherings. There are terracotta tiled floors throughout the ground floor. The farmhouse has 2 cellars; cellar 1 has stairs leading down from the sitting room, where you will find a washing machine, a second fridge and a telephone. On the second floor, there are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms/shower rooms, and all bedroom & bathroom doors are lockable

The garden comprises of a play area, a vegetable, herb & flower garden, barn, outbuildings & bread oven. The superb floodlit swimming pool, installed in 2002, measures 11.5m x 4.5m including roman end. For safety the pool has been fenced from the rest of the garden with a lockable gate. It has an automatic robot cleaner giving crystal clear water. There are sun loungers around the pool area. |

There are weekly markets in Argentat and in July & August there is an evening market at Monceaux (just a few minutes up the road) where you can buy your supper at the market, have it cooked for you on the village barbecue & sit & eat it at long tables set out by the locals and enjoy the live entertainment - a very enjoyable evening! There are many places of interest to visit such as Cantal Mountains, Tours de Merle, Tulle, Brive, Beaulieu, Rocamadour, Lascaux Caves, Gouffre de Padirac etc. and local activities include canoeing, fishing, horse-riding, walking, golf, hang-gliding, para-gliding etc. Excellent winter skiing facilities.

How Do I get there? |

We are approx. 1 1/2 hrs drive from Limoges & Rodez airports. Bergerac approx. 2hrs & Toulouse approx. 2 1/2 hrs. The driving distance from Le Havre port is approx. 405 miles, Dieppe approx. 400 miles & Calais approx. 475 miles. There is also the Motor Rail to Brive & from Brive we are approx. 1hr drive.main route through from Orleans to Toulouse). |
