Puycheny is a famous hamlet 30 minutes drive from Limoges which is home to 2 historic hand made, family tile making businesses which have been in the area since the 17th century. There is a small museum to explain the history of the craft which provides the opportunity for some hands on practice. Within 2 miles is the Lac Plaisance at St Hilaire Les Places which offers swimming in the lake (with lifeguards in the summer), a water slide for the kids, crazy golf, tennis and boules. The local town, St Yieiux La Perche (12 kms), offers a twice monthly street market while Nexon (8 kms) also has a chateaux and circus festival in the summer and a large supermarket. There is a boulangerie and butchers in St Hilaire (3km).

The house is a converted stone farmhouse which was renovated in 2004 and incorporates 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a huge double height reception room, snug, and kitchen. Upstairs there is 1 triple, 1 twin and 1 bunk room with a family bathroom with power shower and a separate WC. Downstairs there is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom (with shower over bath) which leads to a small living room. This offers a quite place to read in the summer and a separate wood burning stove in the winter.

The oak beamed main reception room has a large ingle nook fireplace with 2 sofas and a TV with English DVD and video as well as a dining table which seats 8. There is a mezzanine level for children which includes a table football table and games. The farmhouse kitchen has a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and large fridge freezer as well as a 6 seater kitchen table. Outside there is a new 10 x 6 m swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers. There is also a brick barbeque and swings for children.

Of course a visit to Limoges, the capital of the Limousin, famous for its porcelain and enamel is essential. A very popular tourist attraction is Oradour sur Glane a village that was destroyed by the Germans in 1944 but has been left as a memorial to those that were massacred. Well worth a visit, but take a hankie. Watersport enthusiasts will find all they need in the well-equipped beached lakes to utilise their energy, or just relax. Many lakes being ideal locations for fishing as are the lovely rivers in the area. |

The location of The Farmhouse is approximately 20 minutes drive from the A20 (which is the main route through from Paris to Toulouse) you will need to exit at Junction 36. By air 40 minutes drive from Limoges airport (direct flights from Stanstead with Ryanair). |
