'La Porcherie' is situated in the Haute-Vienne, in the heart of the truly picturesque countryside of the Limousin, within 12 km of the A20.

'La Porcherie’ has been tastefully renovated and has a wonderful rustic charm with the original oak beams and a log burner for those chilly evenings. It also has central heating for year round lets. In the large sitting room there is a lovely comfy leather suite, TV/video, audio, and a double sofa bed and oak cupboard for wardrobe space. There are also books, videos, cassettes and compact discs to entertain you.

The two sets of French doors lead onto a terrace with table and chairs so you can sit and enjoy breakfast admiring the panoramic view over the valley below.

The accommodation is all on one level including a double bedroom, with an amazing view to greet you in the morning, a bathroom with w/c, bath with shower over and hairdryer.

The large eat-in kitchen has a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, iron and board, oven and hob, pine table and chairs and a dresser.

There is another south facing patio off the kitchen with furniture and BBQ.

Linen is included, towels are not, (although can be hired) and logs, electric and gas are included in the rent.

The property itself is situated down a country lane and is set in 7 acres. There is no passing traffic, apart from the farmer checking his stock and the only neighbours are limousin cows and calves. The wildlife is stunning and you are likely to see woodpeckers, owls, bats, deer, coypu, red squirrel and buzzards to name but a few. It is a walkers and birdwatchers dream and we also have bikes for hire.

There are churches and monasteries, chateaux and abbeys, parcs and forests and quaint old villages with their cobbled streets to explore and we have the lovely towns of La Souterraine, Le Dorat, St. Junien, Bellac, Confolens, Poitiers and Limoges all within an easy drive.

Lastly there is the wonderful food and wine to discover. There are numerous restaurants catering for every taste all within a short distance away.

How Do I get there?

The location of the cottage is 12km (10 mins) drive from the A20 (which is part of the main route through from Orleans to Toulouse).
You will need to exit at Junction 23 heading for Magnac Laval.

The ports of Le Havre and Calais are between 5 and 7 hours away, Limoges and Poitiers airports are about 1 hour away and there is an excellent rail service from Waterloo to Poitiers via Lille or Paris.
