Self-contained one-bedroom gite occupying one end of a row of 500 year old cottages near Lussac les Eglises.

La Coufaudiere is a small hamlet away from traffic but close to Lussac les Eglises & many other towns for convenient shopping. In Lussac les Eglises there is a well-stocked Spar supermarket, two bakers, two bars, hairdressers, pharmacy, petrol pump & garage & it takes just a few minutes to drive to Lussac from the gite. Although there is another property in the village, it is at present unoccupied so that this is a really peaceful place to come if you feel the need for rest & relaxation. However, it is only 20 minutes from the A20 with easy access south to Limoges, the capital of the Limousin, where you will find the famous porcelain factories as well as many places of historic interest. About an hour to the north is Poitiers where a great day out can be had for all age groups at the famous theme park Futuroscope.

The Limousin is famous for its lakes & rivers & there are several swimming lakes close by that never seem to be busy even in the middle of the summer. Plenty of other sporting activities can be found in the region & in the gite you will find a huge pile of brochures detailing what there is to do here.

The gite consists of a living/kitchen on the ground floor with patio doors to a private patio & garden with table, chairs & BBQ. The room is light & airy with oak beams, a beautiful ancient oak & stone fireplace & a wood-burner for use during the winter. There is a sofa bed, desk, coffee table, radio & cassette player, dining table & chairs etc.

The kitchen area is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine, ample crockery, cutlery, glasses & BBQ equipment.

An ancient oak staircase leads to the bedroom with twin beds & a pretty shower room

As mentioned above, the gite is self-contained & the owner lives on site. The property has around 8 acres of land with horses, cats & poultry producing tasty free-range eggs available to purchase by guests. In the summer months there are also organic vegetables & salad for sale.

The gite is open all year round & also available for long lets by negotiation. If you are thinking of buying property in this area, perhaps I can help & offer some advice to help you find what you are looking for.

As this is a very rural area, you would need a car to get around to enjoy the countryside & visit places of interest. This area is convenient for travel by road, train & air - I will be happy to give directions & advice.''

How Do I get there?

The location of the Gite is approx 20 mins drive from the A20 (which is the main route through from Paris to Toulouse).
You will need to exit at Junction 22.

You would need a car to reach places of interest, which you could hire from the airports, or you could drive down from the Ports. It takes around 7+ hours from Calais or around 5+ hours from Le Havre. Ryanair fly daily from Stansted to Limoges and to Poitiers. Flybe will be flying from Southampton to Limoges from May of 2004.
Alternatively this area can be reached by train.

Please bring your own bed linen and towels as these are not provided, but linen can be hired at £5 per person per week.

Electricity is included during the summer but a charge will be made for winter lets
