Nestled into the tranquil landscape, this gite offers holiday accommodation for up to four+ people, in the little hamlet of Sourdioux, which is 2 kms from Moissannes in Limousin. Recently renovated to a high standard, the owners have kept all the character one would expect in a building of this nature with wooden beams and original stone walls. Whether you are looking for a relaxing laid-back break or a more energetic holiday, this gite is the perfect hide-away from which to explore this beautiful and relatively undiscovered part of France. |

The accommodation upstairs comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 with double bed and the other with twin/triple beds, bathroom with a large corner shower unit, wash hand basin and toilet. On the ground floor there is a sitting/dining room with large fireplace and Radio/CD player and a door with access to the private south facing garden, and on a slighly lower level is the kitchen area with electric oven and 2 ring hob, fridge/freezer and another door leading out into the gardens (Caution: this door is lower than average). Owners washing machine can be used if required. |

Outside there is a private garden area with seating and barbeque situated to make the most of daylong sunshine (sunshine not guaranteed, of course - but we'll put in a request!!) and access (past the owners farmhouse) to the shared 9.6m x 6.6m heated swimming pool with decked area and sun loungers (We would ask that children be supervised at the pool area at all times) The overall buildings are set in a private garden of over an acre which includes a small organic garden with fresh produce available to guests depending on the season. Free range chickens roam the grounds and eggs (depending on availability) will also be available.

Only 20 minutes drive from the gite is the Lac de St Helene - typical of many such lakes in this area - where you will find a small well kept beach from which to swim in safety under the watchful gaze of a lifeguard (times of cover posted at the beach). A separate area of the lake is dedicated to those more adventurous types for water skiing. There is a restaurant overlooking the lake - L'Auberge du Lac - and it is a great place to eat and watch the sunset! Also close is the Lac de Vassiviere - just 45 mins drive away. The Lac de Vassiviere has 6 supervised beaches, 4 marinas, windsurfing, canoeing, waterskiing, sailing, boat excursions and paths for walking, cycling or riding. Fishing – Permits can be purchased locally to fish for some of the finest fish in Europe in unpolluted rivers. There are also two very good golf courses nearby. This is child friendly location with use of the owners childrens' toys available to occupy them - swings, slide, sand pit, badminton, football, trampoline, bikes to name just a few and plenty of garden space for them to just roam safely.
The owners are also offering a baby-sitting service if you wish to escape for a child free soiree.
For adults there are also bikes, fishing rods, binnoculars for bird-watching (plenty of nature books to identify what you see) and also a full size telescope for star gazing if this is of interest to you.
There are plenty of circular walks through the forest and nature trails for the children to discover the numerous insects and creatures that live there.
The nearest boulangerie is in Sauviat-sur-Vige - 10 mins by car.
The nearest supermarket is in St. Leonard de Noblat - 10 mins by car.
