This beautiful converted barn has been restored to a high standard, and is situated in a hamlet 1 km from St. Vaury a village off the N145 between La Souterraine and Gueret. Its quiet situation yet within easy access to the dual carriageway makes it very well positioned for house hunting or a peaceful getaway. Plenty of walks and mountain bike tracks from the property
The village has a P.O., a bar/restaurant, a butchers, 2 bakers, a charcuterie, 2 banks and a mobile shop, but for more major shopping Gueret is only 10 mins away and has most amenities including a market on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Le Gite au Chez is situated in a quiet hamlet surrounded by fields and woodland, with may cycle paths/walking tracks a few 100 meters away.
Despite its tranquility it is surprisingly accessible with flights from Stansted, Southampton, East Midlands to Limoges an hour away. Its central location makes it an ideal stopover for people en route further south in France or Spain. There are also regular trains from Paris (Gare Austerlitz) to La Souterraine, 20 minutes drive from Le Chez.

This new gite has been carefully converted from a barn, leaving the stone walls visible on the groundfloor. On the first floorI it has 2 bedrooms (one double and one twin) with a bathroom in between (shower, lavatory and basin).
Downstairs there is a large area with kitchen/dining room and sitting room. The dining table seats 6 comfortably, and the kitchen is well equipped and has a gas hob with electric oven and a fridge with ice box.
There is a wood burning stove for colder months and a radio/CD player, television and video recorder is provided

There are plenty of lakes nearby for swimming in, plus one in the village for fishing in. There are also tennis courts in the village. There are plenty of historic monuments to visit, including chateaux and museums. Horse-riding is 10 mins away. Table Tennis at the property.
Excellent place for bird watching (Black Kite, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Peregrine, Golden Oriole all seen at the property to name a few) with a 360 degree look out 1 km away for a better view.
A cot, baby bath and highchair are also available if required. Hair Dryer provided. Bikes to rent some with childseats - 5 euros per day or 20 euros per week

How Do I get there?

The location of the gite is 30 mins drive from the A20 (Orleans to Toulouse) you will need to exit at junction 23 heading towards Gueret.
There are daily flights to Limoges from Standsted, which is about 1 hours drive. Car hire is available at the airport, or a pick-up service can be arranged.
