Beautiful five bedroomed house in an acre of secluded garden and woodland. Large shady terrace for wining and dining (with sunsets over the valley), and a ten by five metre pool for a pre-dinner dip.

We think our home offers everything for a perfectly relaxing and enjoyable holiday. It has been 'done out' in the last two years and is equipped with all 'mod. cons.'. The kitchen contains a large ceramic induction hob, bread maker, raclette and is very well equipped with crockery, cutlery and glasses for at least twelve people. It leads directly onto our terrace where we often eat from February to November. There is a cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Iron. In the laundry room in the basement we have washing machine and tumble dryer as well as a second large fridge and separate freezer.

The open plan sejour/salle a manger has a very large fireplace ( our main heating is underfloor ), a piano, English satelite TV, video, DVD and hi fi. The study looks over our small vegetable plot and up to the wood at the back ( where we hear the golden oriole and the cuckoo in spring ) and is a cool, quiet place to sit and browse through our many books.

There 2 Double Bedrooms, 3 Twin Bedrooms. All the bedrooms are roughly the same size - about 16 sq. metres. All have fitted wardrobes.

1 Bathroom, 1 Shower, 2 Separate WC's. The bathroom has a whirlpool bath and twin sinks. The shower room has a fully tiled walk-in shower together with a sink and a toilet. There is a toilet downstairs and also in the annexe.

In the basement there is garage space for two cars, a laundry room, an atelier and a cave ( for logs and wine ! ). There is also a treadmill and a weights machine, should you wish to exercise. Three adult bikes and one child's bike are available for your use. There is ample space in the garden for lounging in the sun, snoozing in the shade or playing boules etc.

Outdoor annexe with built-in barbecue and table for at least ten people. Table tennis area further down the garden.

We are 2km from the small rural town of St Yrieix la Perche on the Haute-Vienne/Dordogne border, not far from the prehistoric sites of the Perigord and the renowned valley of the Dordogne. Limoges is 35 mins. drive to the north and Perigueux 50 mins. to the south west. Ours is a region of trees, meadows and lakes, many of which have swimming beaches, supervised in the summer. Delightful and unspoilt rural France.

St Yrieix is a picturesque medieval town of some 8000 inhabitants - this is the birthplace of the famous Limoges porcelaine. It is near the Parc Natural Perigord/Limousin. This area offers everything for all ages and all tastes. Cycle, or meander on foot, along the quiet country lanes or tracks through meadows and woods - there are many waymarked trails.

There are local lakes with sandy beaches. Some have pedalos and/or waterslides and children's play areas. Two minutes from our home there is the local tennis club - we can provide raquets - and a large outdoor pool which is open in the summer holidays.

Visit Brantome (the Venice of the Dordogne ) or Uzerche ( the Pearl of Limousin ) where you can canoe or kayak , or simply potter around these lovely old towns and have a sumptuous meal in one of the many restaurants - this is the foie gras region.

Just down the road try your hand at waterskiing, or at Limoges have a round of golf. The adventurous might like to try the 'acrobois' at Bussiere-Galant, where in summer you can also pedal at night on the velorail and see the fireflies and glow worms.

Children (and adults) will love the animal park at Limoges where there is also an aquarium and an adventure park near the airport at Bellegarde.
Visit the chateaux at nearby Rochechouart and Hautefort and the famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux at Montignac.

Just over a two hour drive to the east takes you to the beautiful mountains of the Auvergne and the resorts of Mont Dore and Lioran. The west coast (Bordeaux, Arcachon and La Rochelle ) is a three hour drive away. To the south the popular Dordogne region is less than an hour's drive away. Visit Sarlat, Bergerac and other famous tourist towns.

How Do I get there?

The location of the house is approximately 30 minutes drive from the A20 (which is the main route through from Paris to Toulouse) you will need to exit at Junction 36. By air 50 minutes drive from Limoges airport (direct flights from Stanstead with Ryanair).
and there is car hire available at the airport.
