These two early 19th century store houses, with it's original low beamed ceilings and natural stone walls have been converted into a very comfortable cottage. It is situated in the hamlet of la Charse between Gueret (fifteen minutes drive) and Ahun (five minutes drive), on the D942. The cottage consists of a cosy lounge with both English satellite and French TV, a Video and DVD player, cards and games. There is comfortable cane furniture and a log burning fire for those chillier evenings. There is heating throughout the cottage in the colder months, which makes it cosy for Winter visits. The cottage is also available for long lets. |

There is an airy double bedroom and we have a cot/single bed available on request for a small charge.
A well equipped kitchen and a bathroom with Farmers bath and shower over complete the interior.
The cottage is set in a very pretty garden, it has a terrace where you can sit and enjoy leisurely lunches, possibly cooked on the nearby BBQ, while enjoying the view over the rolling farmland..

For those who feel the need of exercise, there is plenty to do. There are several nearby golf courses, many walks or cycle rides, we supply maps for you to choose from, plenty of fishing, both coarse and fly, we can advise you on licences. The many beautiful lakes and rivers accessible within the Creuse as well as offering good fishing are perfect for swimming and other watersports. Most lakes have lifeguards during the Summer. The nearest river is of course 'the Creuse' which runs through Moutier d'ahun, just below Ahun, Mutier is the home to a Benedictine Abbey and a Norman bridge, as well as art galleries and restaurants. Also locally there is a great diversity of bird life, including Black Redstarts, Kites, Buzzards and during migration, Cranes.

Ahun is five minutes drive away, a busy little town with shops, banks, restaurants and bars, a pharmacy and a small swimming lake. There is a market every Wednesday.
Gueret is a bigger town which boasts two markets, Thursday and Saturday, there is also a swimming pool and a bigger choice of shops and restaurants, and there are museums and historic Chateaux.
Limoges is the nearest airport, a comfortable drive of about an hour and a quarter along the A20 then onto the N145 to Gueret. Fast trains also run regularly from Paris (Gare Austerlitz) to La Souterraine which is about 25 minutes from la Charse.
The Creuse, being in Central France is an ideal stopping place for travellers en route to and from the north.
Small, well behaved dogs are welcome as long as they don't smoke as we have a strict no smoking policy in the cottage.

La Petite Maison is situated in the village of La Charse, between Gueret and Ahun on the D942 approx 40km (40 mins) drive from the A20 (which is part of the main route through from Orleans to Toulouse). |
